October 19, 2022. At the October 18 Tribal Board Meeting the Sault Tribe Board voted to end the Board's Pension Plan effect January 1, 2023. All Tribal Board Members Pensions prior to this decision are protected and will be honored.
This resolution may be challenged because it overturns a referendum the Members approved. Some believe this decision should be made by Members not the Board.
TO SAVE MONEY on arguing over this point it is probably cheaper to add this item on the Ballet for the Special Election which the Board can do. It also demonstrates we are protecting Members Rights. Some may believe we need a Pension Plan to motivate people to do a job they do not want to do but has to be done.
