In the recent STI Newsletter Sault Tribe Inc announced they have been awarded a $2.4 million contract with the Centers for Disease Control focusing on the critical study of viral gastroenteritis. In addition STI reported that in July they were awarded a $24 million contract to their subsidiary, Chippewa Government Solutions, to advance global influenza pandemic readiness and response efforts. It is unclear by reading the newsletter their role in these projects.
We estimate the indirect cost of these contracts, which in part can be considered company profits paid to Sault Tribe Inc should be $2,640,000 if paid the standard 10% Indirect Cost normally paid by Government Contracts.
It is unclear what the plan is to ensure that part of the profit generated by Sault Tribe Inc. will be paid to Tribal Members as part of an Annual Dividend Payment. We encourage Tribal Members to reach out to their Tribal Board Members in their Units for additional information.
