In part as a result of the request from Parents and Students JKL Bahweting Anishnabe submitted an expansion plan to the Tribal Board to add 9th grade in the 2026-2027 School year. The resolution was approved after the tribal chairman voted to break the tie vote.
JKL School is funded by the State of Michigan Charter School Funding including Federal Education Funds therefore it is open to any child in the school district when space is available.
