Greed ? The motive of those attempting to keep the Tribal Rolls closed? It appears so.

November 5, 2023.  Vote needed to fight greed and to open the rolls.

As reported in the official Sault Tribe Newspaper " On Sept. 19, 2023, the Sault Tribe Board of Directors declared the Referendum Petition on

Resolution 2023-261 Tribal Roll Opening to be valid. This referendum will now be sent out to a vote of the Sault Tribe Voters. Ballots will be mailed within the coming weeks and will be due back no later than Nov. 20, 2023. Sault Tribe’s Interim Election Committee would also like to announce that the Referendum Election ballots will be counted on Monday, Nov. 20, 2023, at approximately 5 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom at Kewadin Casinos in Sault Ste. Marie. Sault Tribe Members are welcome to attend and watch the process and/or follow the count results. Tribal Roll Opening Referendum

If you want to support those that are being denied their rights to be members of our tribe and have not received your ballot reach out the the Tribe immediately or mail in your ballot.

It appears that those Tribal Elders that do not want to share their Tribal Elder Benefits with those that have been denied their rights their entire life are behind this election.

In our opinion Newly Enrolled Tribal Members will be a blessing not a burden. You should take a look at those voting to keep the rolls closed as their greed demonstrates that they do not have the Tribe's best interest at heart.

If the rolls remain closed, this may be the motivation needed for current Members that qualify to be part of the Mackinac Band to break away from this the Sault Tribe and formally request our own Federal Recognition.  Current Tribal Members should be able to support Federal Recognition of the Mackinac Band without giving up their current rights.   Mackinac Band
