An estimated *8450 Tribal Members voted in the Sault Tribe Board of Directors Primary Election. The Voter Turn Out indicates that a portion of the Newly Enrolled Sault Tribe Members exercised their right to vote with some waiting for years for the opportunity to do so.
Upsets happened in Unit Four and Unit Three. The current board members representing those units did not qualify to be on the ballot for the General Election.
The approximate *2950 votes that were cast for the losing candidates may indicate that the board seats are not guaranteed to the people that won the most votes in the primary. In addition to those voters it is believed that many other members will vote in the General Election then did so in the Primary. *(Sault Tribe Facebook Live Video Feed did not show Unit Five Votes resulting in estimates of voters only.)
Editorial Comments: "In my view"
One of the most important issues that needs to be addressed by the new and current board members is the revisions to the draft of the constitution.
Is the Sault Tribe Board going to allow members to vote on every change in the constitution separately or are they going to attempt to force a vote for all the changes together?
Please tell your Unit Representative Candidates and the current Sault Tribe Board Members to allow members to vote for each Constitution Change separately. It matters for the next seven generations.
