“Make Indians Great Again (MIGA)!” JUST a Distraction.

July 22 2025.

While those in legacy media owned and operated primarily by White Guys are posting their outrage about President Trump's demands that sports teams change their names and the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) issues a statement that states in part they "emphatically condemns the hateful, genocidal statement of Ann Coulter on July 6, 2025, through a post on the social platform X, declaring: “We didn’t kill enough Indians.” There is no place in society for this direct incitement of hatred and violence toward American Indian and Alaska Native people."  We believe the majority of Tribal Members want our tribes to focus on what is really important, which is economic growth and stability. Everything else is just noise and distractions from the truth in our view.

If you ask Tribal Members that are part of tribes like ours that do very little to help the majority of members verse successful tribes that provide meaningful economic contributions to their members they will tell you "We are jealous of their success" and wish our tribe could get it together just like those other tribes have done.

While of course there is more to being a Tribal Member than financial success, the truth is that financial contributions to Tribal Members change lives for the member themselves and the surrounding communities that benefit from Tribal Members spending their money in their communities along with the jobs they create for Non-Tribal Members working for the tribe and the businesses that serve successful tribes.

Unfortunately NCAI and similar organizations raise money portraying all Native Americans as disadvantaged, instead of resourceful and committed to growth. In our view we need to change the narrative for the sake of our children.  While many of us did grow up in very dysfunctional families we did or can in the future make the changes needed to end the dysfunction.  That needs to be the message.
