About Us

Aanii

Native American Broadcasting Company was founded in May, 2012.

The Sault Tribe Guardian was founded in 2022 to be an independent source of news for and about the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians for Enrolled Tribal Members.

FirstNations.News founded in 2023 to focus on Tribal News for North, Central, and South America along with news content that may be of interest to Tribal Members and others that are interested in tribal affairs and lifestyles.

We are working to end the term "American Indians" because in our view that label is a misappropriation of the word Indian and it supports a history of racism and ignorance.  We believe all Tribal Members in America should be referred to as First Nations Descendants.

We are First Nations Journalist that strive to honor our Grandfathers and Grandmothers while working to protect the rights of the next Seven Generations.

The Sault Tribe defines their seven-county service area as the following counties in the state of Michigan:

  • Alger, Chippewa, Delta, Luce, Mackinac, Marquette, and Schoolcraft. However the majority of the tribe lives outside those counties.

The tribe's headquarters are located in Sault Ste Marie Michigan. Satellite Offices are located in Escanaba, Hessel, Manistique, Marquette, Munising, Newberry, and St. Ignace which have both administrative offices and health clinics.
